Selecting a Forklift Truck

When selecting a forklift for your operation there are some key points to remember.

  1. The type of machine suitable for your operation. For example ,for medium to heavy outside work  a  Diesel or LPG Gas  Engine machine may be suitable, but for mainly inside Warehouse an Electric Battery Powered machine would be necessary. Some firms prefer Electric in all circumstances due to ease of charging, it is also cheaper in the main than LPG Gas or Diesel, with a  cleaner and quieter operation , due to lack of Engine noise and fumes.
  2. Your maximum lifting height and the weight you need to store at this height. Forklift Trucks de-rate as you lift , so you may need a heavier capacity machine than you thought depending on the height you need to lift your product. We will be glad to advise and visit your site to assess your needs if required.
  3. Your warehouse configuration, which includes aisle widths and lowest operating height. This height is mostly concerned with your lowest door height, which may or may not be your entrance door height. This and your required lifting height will determine your mast type, whether it will be twin or triple type. If you will need to drive into containers please also mention this when you contact us.
